Looe is hosting its Gig regatta this year on 28th May

Due to the tides, parking etc. this year the event will taking place from Millendreath Beach.

The first race is due off around 11am and the event should finish about 5pm.

So if you are new to this type of rowing or are an avid follower why not come down to Looe for the weekend and enjoy not only the racing and social events that go with rowing but also to wander around our delightful town.

What better place to stay than St Johns Court, we are on the South West Coast Path which has various vantage points to view the racing or is only a short stroll from Millendreath along the coast path.

Contact me for further information on staying at St Johns Court.

Looe Lugger Regatta June 3rd to 5th

Once again Looe will be filled with classic fishing boats over the weekend of the 3 – 5 June.

Arriving in the days leading up to the event the craft will race in the bay, weather permitting, on both the Saturday and Sunday. Some of these boats are over 100 years old and provide a colourful spectacle, both out at sea and once tied up in the harbour.

The lugger was the main fishing boat operating off the south Cornish coast up until the 1960s. Originally sailing vessels, some were later installed with engines. Over this weekend the engines will once again be switched off as both boats from Looe and as far afield as Brittany turn back time.

Those wishing to watch the races will find great vantage points at Hannafore, West Looe or from the end of the Banjo Pier.

Races will take place on the Saturday from 10.30 till 17.40, Sunday from 11.30 till 3.30, weather permitting.
